How to Wrap a Round Flat Gift

Wrapping a circular flat gift can be challenging, requiring many creases and folds – but it is possible!

This tutorial will outline two methods for wrapping round flat gifts – one is tailored for flat presents like cookies tins while the other can accommodate cylindrical shaped presents such as candles.

1. Fold the paper in half.

If you’re wrapping a round present, begin by placing it at the center of the paper so it will be easier for you to wrap.

Fold two long sides of paper over your gift and secure them with tape. Fold the bottom corner up until it meets the crease on top of it – tape will secure this fold as well.

Reverse this process on the other side of your gift and tie a bow ribbon at its finish – now your present is ready for giving!

2. Make a crease.

No matter if it is for tennis racquet, guitar, or another round gift; sometimes all it takes to create the perfect package is creating a crease. Trust us; it is easier than you think!

Fold the side flaps tightly so they don’t stick out, creating an ideal surface to wrap your present on.

Now it’s time to get wrapping! Simply follow the standard steps of wrapping rectangular gifts–tightly roll it, secure with tape, add a bow or tag–then repeat on the other side until complete! Congratulations: you are now an expert at wrapping!

3. Fold the paper in half again.

When wrapping a round flat present, it’s crucial that its wrapping be even and smooth. This will give the present more of a polished and professional feel and it is worth spending extra time to achieve perfection.

Start by gathering two opposite corners of paper together and pulling them close over the top edge of your gift. Fold down both layers at an angle before bringing one corner up towards its matching edge of your present.

Before folding over and gluing your paper gift, tuck one end underneath itself and fold over and crease for a clean seam. Finally, pull the flap over and secure with tape. Finally, your present is complete – now all it needs is its bow! Adding one that complements or matches the color of paper can really complete its look.

4. Make a crease.

Wrapping round flat gifts can be daunting at first, as folding paper can often seem impossible. However, with some careful planning you can easily gift wrap your present like an expert!

Beginning by using a piece of wrapping paper that’s slightly larger than your gift, fold one long edge into itself so it forms a crease and fold the other edge so it meets with it at a right angle.

Continue to fold and crease the paper until a pleat has formed on top of your gift. If there’s any excess, trim off with scissors.

5. Fold the paper in half again.

Use this technique to wrap cylindrical gifts, such as posters or canisters. Cut a long strip of wrapping paper (long enough to cover both height and sides of your gift).

Fold one edge of the paper up over the present and fold it back down over its opposite side before repeating this on both sides and secure with tape.

To achieve a neater finish, crease and fold the edges of the wrapping paper at the bottom for a neater appearance. Make sure that when pulling tightly and taping down for added support, you use tape as needed for strength. Once complete, add ribbon for that final touch – my blog post titled How to Tie the Perfect Ribbon Bow Seven Ways provides more details!

6. Make a crease.

Gifts with non-square or rectangular surfaces such as tennis racquets or guitars can be challenging to wrap neatly; but with some geometry knowledge you can achieve this!

Start by placing the gift on top of fabric. Fold and crimp one side of fabric around it, repeat with the other side, and tie a bow at the end for extra flair!

This method works best with cylindrical items like jars or bottles of wine, but also works on oddly-shaped presents such as posters or canisters. Similar to the pleat method but using twist instead of fold! Faster and easier than folding methods while still looking beautiful! Just be sure to use high-quality ribbon so it accentuates your gift!

7. Fold the paper in half again.

If your gift is flat circular in shape, such as a box of cookies, use the same method as you would for wrapping round-shaped presents with square bases such as basketballs – starting by placing it at the center of the paper with long edges touching all four sides of it touching around it – to secure its delivery.

Pull both ends of paper up and around the cylinder and secure them with tape, folding in half to create triangle shapes before repeating this process on both sides of your gift. Tie a bow for added finishing touches. This approach can make large presents look presentable while covering odd-shaped objects as well.

8. Make a crease.

Wrapping round gifts such as tennis racquets or Tonka trucks can be challenging, and often results in uneven paper folds. To create an ideal result, fold down one edge to form a pleat and tape down this pleat – this will create a professional finished appearance to your gift!

Repeat with the other curved side of the paper, and once completed add a ribbon or bow – you’re all done! This method works best with gifts with cylindrical shapes that can stand upright such as bottles and jars; but flat circular gifts such as posters and canisters also benefit greatly from it! Give it a try; you might be amazed how easy and effective this approach is! Finally don’t forget to share photos of your finished presents on social media so we can all admire them together.

9. Fold the paper in half again.

Take the same technique you did for the first fold and repeat on the other corner, folding over and crimping as before. Wrap the paper around your gift, secure with tape, then add gift tags and bows! Your work is done!

This method of wrapping round gifts that have flat sides like posters, canisters and jars is an ideal way to showcase them beautifully. Additionally, this approach works well when wrapping spherical presents such as basketballs. To use this technique, thick wrapping paper large enough to cover both ends by an inch will enable pleating the top layer into folds that look like fan petals; you then tape down their edges. Doing this gives the package more visual appeal as well as creating an impressive professional appearance; add ribbon or bows for even greater aesthetic effect!

10. Make a crease.

No matter if it’s a flat circular present like cookies or candle, or cylindrical like posters and jars, this wrapping technique will do the job perfectly. Simply lay your gift flat on the wrapping paper, measure around its circumference to ensure one side reaches all the way around and mark where necessary with a crease mark if necessary.

Fold each corner so that it abuts flush with the edge of the box and repeat this process for each corner. Once complete, you are ready to wrap! Tie a bow to complete your present! Enjoy your work!
